LOST returns tonight to ABC. I think the recap starts at 8:00 PM EST. Let's hope it's not another pop-up video summary of all that's happened. After that, the season premiere starts at 9:00 PM EST.
I'm pretty excited for a couple of resaons. First, it's LOST. Enough said, right? Second, I've avoided anything and everything LOST for the past seven months since the last season ended. I've seen exactly zero teasers or previews on TV, and I've stayed away from any internet sites and podcasts that might contain information about it.
I'm going into this one blind, and that's the only way to watch a good show or a good movie as far as I'm concerned.
Anybody else looking forward to this? And please, if you're going to post, no mentioning of what you might have seen in a trailer, online, etc. about this upcoming season. Or I'll have to kill you. We can discuss everything about the premiere tomorrow to our hearts' contents.
PS: How many of you think LOST is supposed to be an acronym?

Going blind into a show (or movie or book) is fantastic. No expectations, no previous impressions at all - just the presentation of itself by itself.
I think it's a great way to experience any story. The problem is how do you get people to experience it if they've never heard anything about it?
And as excited as I am about LOST, I'm equally sad that I'm not watching it as it airs tonight. I'm afraid I'll have to be in total isolation until I get a chance to watch it online.

It was a decent premiere, nothing earth-shattering. Started off real strong, but then lost its momentum because it was a bit scattered plot-wise. Also, I think the episode had some tonal shifts throughout that didn't quite work.
And you're right about going in blind to a show, versus the networks' need to draw viewers. Though, I think it's a bit too late for people to "start watching" LOST at this point. Anybody unfamiliar and interested in the show absolutely must start at the beginning with Season One.

Brian, I agree with you about LOST. Nothing out of this world, but still solid. It had its moments of greatness, but you're right about the tonal shift not working.
Also, I am one of those believers that LOST is an acronym. For what, I have no clue. But sometimes I still think there's some kind of meta-reality involved. I'm talking about the "reality show theory". How could the makeup department make those beards and wigs look SO bad if not on purpose?!?! Remember the fake beard Kate found in the Others' locker? Maybe that's a hint?

I haven't heard much about the "reality show theory." Do you mean what I think you mean, i.e. the survivors and/or others, Dharma, etc., are all part of some twisted reality show?
I'm constantly back and forth on whether this show is the great piece of fiction I think it is. Season One: perfect. Season Two: ehhhh. Half of Season Three was great. Season Four teeter-tottered.
The premiere, I thought, was another example of what happens to a lot of episodes: many cool or great moments that don't necessarily add up or come together as a whole.
